The Inaugural Gator "DIRT" Nationals is in the books and track owners Liz and Phil Guadagno did a superb job of running their first "Winter Nationals" for the open wheel contingent at the Lake City , Facility.
Wayne Davis was in charge of his now heralded Southern States Midget Series and he too can hold his head proudly as three nights of midget racing was on the card something that had not been done on the dirt since the early 80's.
We here had a fantastic time writing stories ,taking pictures and helping both the Guadagno's and Wayne Davis promote their events leading up to the Valentine's weekend and are looking forward to Valentine's weekend 2016 for the 2nd annual to again help them however possible.
To have the chance to take our Bendinrules / Disaster Motorsports #2 Jr. with driver Sheldon Kinser Jr. and race against some of the best on the east coast was memorable and for Kinser to show how fast our car was despite a few "Hiccups".
Sheldon , Angie , J.J. and myself left Saturday night with our heads in the clouds and ready for the 2015 regular season to begin.
The car was ONE of the best all weekend but Saturday saw an 8 lap exit because of a 10 cent blown fuse while chasing down leader Billy Vaninwegan #75 for the lead.
Friday night the cars setup was off a "smidgen" and Kinser got wore out fighting it while leading but still "hung on" to a third place finish.
E-Mod car count was low mostly because of new cars not finished yet and extreme cold weatherbut still the ten in showing put on three nights of hard racing..
All competitors said they will return next year and are going to help get the word out for others to come down and take part in what was a great weekend of making new friends , enjoying some hard racing and hats off to the Guadagno's and Wayne Davis for their support of racing in Florida.
This issue is devoted to the Gator "DIRT" Nationals Weekend and in two weeks we will preview the new season for the Outlaw Series March 21st and March 14th racing at North Florida Speedway.
